First Annual Taco Thursday Election Night - Thursday, November 30th @ 6:00 p.m.!
KU ASCE will conduct it's annual elections on Thursday, November 30, at 6:00 p.m. in 3151 Learned Hall. To make it not only an election, but a fun evening, it will also become...Taco Thursday Election Night!
The usual pizza and occaisional subs will be replaced by tacos! Drinks will also be provided. Please plan on attending. All current KU ASCE members and faculty are invited.
If you are interested in running for office....
Below is a list of the positions available and a brief description of the duties involved. To be eligible to run for an office or chair, you must be a paid KU ASCE member, and you must click on the link at the bottom of the description of the office/chair you wish to run for and send send an email to KU ASCE stating your intention to run. You must do this by Monday, November 27!
Positions Available: (the duties listed are the most common duties required, but not necessarily all that you may be required to perform)
President Duties include: oversight of all other officers and chairs; direct oversight of recruitment chair; working with advisors and faculty members to improve the chapter; running meetings; retaining speakers for meetings; being an ambassador for ASCE, KU, and the School of Engineering; attending and speaking at the bi-annual Kansas Chapter joint meeting; and improving the chapter in generalRun for President

Vice-President Duties include: scheduling of meeting dates; procurement of meeting rooms; scheduling two field trips per semester; running meetings in the absence of the president; being an ambassador for ASCE, KU, and the School of Engineering; and oversight of recruitment and publicity chairsRun for Vice-President

Treasurer Duties include: providing the president with monthly reports showing expenditures and deposits; procurement of food and drinks for meetings; running meetings in the absence of the president and vice-president; being an ambassador for ASCE, KU, and the School of Engineering; oversight of fundraising chairRun for Treasurer

Secretary Duties include: maintaining database of current KU ASCE members; sending thank you notes and/or gifts to speakers; running meetings in the absence of the president, vice-president, and treasurer; being an ambassador for ASCE, KU, and the School of Engineering; maintaining and improving the KU ASCE website; oversight of activities chairRun for Secretary

Activities Chair Duties include: scheduling of not less than three KU ASCE group activities per semester; scheduling of not less than one community service activity per semester; formation of intramural sports teamsRun forActivities Chair

Recruitment Chair Duties include: manage all recruitment activies ; increase membership; increase freshman and sophomore participation; manage the Spring ExpoRun for Recruitment Chair

Class Representative Class representatives will serve as liasons between their class and the KU ASCE President by presenting their classmates' concerns and ideas to the president in a monthly meeting. They will also be required to help promote ASCE to their classmates through word of mouth. Last, the Freshman representative and the Senior representative will coordinate the Senior-Freshman mentorship program.
